Privacy policy
Effective date: 27 October 2026
G'day. This is the privacy policy for www.haydenquinn.com.au, my recipes, travel guides and newsletter site. I've kept it short and plain. It explains what information the site collects, why, who helps me run things, and what you can do about it. "I", "me" and "my" mean Hayden Quinn.
What I collect and why
1. If you sign up to my newsletter
- What: your first name and email address.
- Why: to send you my newsletter (a recipe, a tip and what I'm cooking, monthly or fortnightly). That's all I use it for.
- Who handles it: the newsletter runs on Kit (formerly ConvertKit), an email service based in the United States. Kit stores your details and sends the emails for me. It may also record whether emails are opened or links clicked, which helps me see which recipes people like.
- Leaving: every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. Click it and you're off the list straight away. You can also email me (see "Contact me" below).
2. If you send an enquiry through the contact form
- What: your name, email address, company or brand (optional) and your message.
- Why: to reply to your enquiry. Brand partnership and business enquiries are handled by my management, Erin White, so your enquiry is emailed to Erin, and she or I will get back to you.
- Who handles it: the form is delivered by Web3Forms, a form delivery service. It passes the message on by email.
- How long I keep it: I keep enquiries for as long as it takes to deal with them and for normal business record-keeping, then delete them.
- Emailing directly: if you email Erin directly at [email protected], the same applies.
3. When you browse the site (analytics)
- What: I use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used, such as which pages and recipes are popular, roughly where visitors are (city or country level), what kind of device and browser they use, and how they found the site.
- Newsletter sign-ups: when someone signs up, Google Analytics records a "sign-up" event and which part of the site the form was on. It doesn't record your name or email address.
- Cookies: Google Analytics uses cookies (named
_gaand_ga_…) to tell visits apart. - Who handles it: Google, which may process this information in the United States and other countries.
- What I don't do: I don't use this information to identify you personally, and I don't use the site for advertising or remarketing.
4. Hosting and security
- Who: the site is hosted on Cloudflare.
- What: like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. That's needed to deliver the site quickly and protect it from attacks and spam.
- Where: Cloudflare operates data centres around the world, including in Australia and the United States.
Videos, maps and links to other sites
- YouTube videos: these are "click to play". Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. They then load from YouTube's privacy-enhanced (youtube-nocookie.com) player, and YouTube's own privacy policy applies from that point.
- Travel guide maps: these show map tiles from OpenStreetMap (OpenStreetMap Foundation, UK). To show the map, your browser asks OpenStreetMap's servers for the tiles, which means they receive your IP address and browser details. "Open in Google Maps" links go to Google Maps only if you click them.
- Social and share links: my Instagram, Facebook, X and YouTube profiles, and the share buttons for Facebook, X and WhatsApp, are plain links. They don't load anything or track you on this site until you click them. After that, the other site's privacy policy applies.
- Other links: I link to restaurants, producers, brands I work with and travel partners (such as Travelglobe for trip bookings). I'm not responsible for how those sites handle your information, so please check their policies.
Who I share your information with
I don't sell or rent your personal information.
Who receives it
- The service providers above: Kit, Google, Cloudflare, the contact form provider and OpenStreetMap, which only use it to provide their service.
- My management (Erin White), for enquiries.
- Anyone the law requires me to share it with.
Overseas
- Several of these providers store or process information overseas, mainly in the United States, and also the UK (OpenStreetMap) and other countries where Cloudflare and Google operate.
- By using these services I rely on them to protect your information. Overseas privacy laws may not be the same as Australia's.
Cookies and how to opt out
The only cookies this site sets are the Google Analytics ones. The site itself doesn't need cookies to work. You can opt out in any of these ways:
- install Google's opt-out browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- block or delete cookies in your browser settings, which won't break the site
- use a browser or extension that blocks analytics
Keeping your information safe
I use reputable providers and only collect what I need. No online service is 100% secure, though, so please don't send sensitive information (health, financial and so on) through the contact form.
Accessing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask me what personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, and I'll respond within 30 days. For newsletter details, the quickest fix is to unsubscribe and sign up again with the right details.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, contact me first (below) and I'll try to sort it out within 30 days. If you're still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
