Crif Doggin’

This is a dish I saw being served up at a block party in Brooklyn, NYC by the Crif Dog guys, so all credit goes to them for this amazing combination. Super bad for you but tastes amazing and most importantly can be done quickly when you are in need of something to alleviate that beer drinking hunger.

Putting it all together:

1. First quickly pickle the red and green chili’s in a combination of rice wine vinegar, boiling water and sugar. Allow to quick pickle until last minute for garnish.

2. Wrap the wieners in pancetta or streaky bacon and keep in place with a tooth pick. Place wieners two at a time into preheated (180C) deep fryer and cook until bacon is crispy and dog is cooked. Remove and drain on paper toweling.

3. Split buns, spread avocado onto one side, place hot dog into bun, add a squirt of sour cream and top with pickled chili’s and American mustard if desired.

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS YOU WILL EVER EAT…

Recipe notes and tips:

*Good wieners are hard to find, but these guys have it going on Brot and Wurst.

    Hey Hayden
if you don’t have a deep fryer, you can use a pot of oil for the wieners yeah?
which oil would you recommend to use? would olive oil be alright.

hi emma, a pot is fine but you have to be super careful. use veg oil and only fill it 1/2 full.

let me know how you go with it!
